CLUB RACES
Joy Cann 5
A 5 mile road race through Huncote,
Narborough and Enderby, established in 1993 and run in the memory of HHAC
club runner Joy Cann who actively took part in the club and local league
races as well as completing the 1990 London Marathon.
Currently, a LRRL Summer League race, this is a popular race that is usually
oversubscribed so it is advisable to submit your entries early.
The race is run on the first Weds of August at 7:30pm. Entries are taken from
June.
A top class field from around the county
along with many club and unattached runners make this is great event with
excellent prize list, goodie bag for all and all profits donated to a local
charity.
Entry form available here from June. Entry
on the day very limited and not guaranteed.
CHARITIES
Huncote Hash
The Huncote Hash was started back
in the mid 1980’s after an initiative by Mr Ted Toft (Leicestershire &
Rutland AAA) to return to ‘back to basics’, low cost, no prizes Cross-Country
racing.
Of the 4 races that were created, the Huncote Hash and the Wreake Stomp were
the most popular and are still enjoyed today.
The Huncote Hash takes place on the last (or sometimes first) Sunday of the
year. The race takes in local footpaths around the Huncote Leisure Centre, a
climb over Croft Hill and the odd skirmish into the stream. Entries are taken
on the day, but advance entries are also welcome.
Everyone receives an equal prize of Soup and a roll and the satisfaction of
battling the elements.
Entry forms available here from Nov,
although entries taken on the day.
HHAC 10K
Run in late June, this club race
takes in the countryside of Thurlaston, Potters Marston and Huncote.
Run as a handicap, cleverly worked out so if all run to form we finish
together. Well that's the plan. Good fun and rounded off with a BBQ and prizes.
