Huncote Harriers AC extends a warm welcome to
runners of all standards and experience.
We are competitive at a local level; however, the club's strength is
in supporting both talented and recreational runners. Come and see for yourself. There is no need to join before you
come. You can run with us for a few
weeks, then if you want to keep it up, you will need to become a member. |

you are interested in representing the club in the Leicester Round please let
me know, as we need to select teams and allocate legs to the lucky ones who

orders have been placed. They could
take 6-8 weeks to be made as the factory is extremely busy at the
moment. But I’m sure they will be
worth waiting for, and will arrive just in time for those chilly evenings. We have ordered quite a few extras, so
there will be some leeway for swapping sizes.
So, if you want one, and haven’t yet placed an order let me know by email. The
cost of the hoody will be £10, payable on delivery. An absolutely
bargain! Sizes

HARRIERS GOLDEN GIRL Nicki
took an amazing, if not surprising Gold, in the 10,000 metres at the European Masters Track & Field
Championships in Hungary. With
temperatures around 29 degrees, nobody wanted to take on the pace so with the
first 2 laps being 1:36 and 1:35, Nicki went to the front. She immediately
put in a 1:29 and a 1:30, and the field was strung out in single file. The
Portuguese favourite, Rosa Oliveira, who beat Nicki last year in Finland in
both 10,000 and 5,000, just sat on Nicki’s shoulder. Nicki decided to lose
her early, as she has a good sprint finish so put in a 1:27 followed by a
1:28, and she was away. Nicki kept moving away to a maximum of 17 secs with 6
laps to go, then the heat hit in and the gap started to reduce with 2 to go
it was 13 seconds, but Nicki picked up with laps of 1:31 and 1:30 to finish.
What a great night. Well done Nicki. There’s just no stopping you at the
moment. We are all very proud of you! RAINBOWS 100 LAP CHALLENGE Friday

a brilliant atmosphere. Thanks to all

11th July Claire Quigley
was 3rd lady and Huncote took the Ladies team prize. HUNGARTON 7 Veterans Rule at Hungarton.
Experience came to the front as both Men's and Women's 40+ dominant
Leicestershire's toughest course. Nicki secures her
9th Hungarton title in a quality race to secure an amazing 10th
Leicestershire & Rutland Summer League Title. On a best 4 from 6 summer
road races Nicki with 2 wins & 2 seconds takes the overall title yet
again (last title 2007). In a gun to tape victory Nicki was well up in the
mens field and substantially clear of Nicola Roder (2nd), Zoe Procter (3rd),
Emily Ault (4th) and Clare Mensley (5th). The mens event was an exhibition
of Leicestershire's, and probably the Country's, finest vets, Gordan Lee and
Tim Hartley started off well within themselves in a group of 8 passing
through a 1.5 miles all together. By 4 miles Gordan & Tim were 200 metres
well clear of Ashley Sabin and coming into the last mile still head to head
the pace seemed very hot as both prepared for a sprint finish. Gordan took
the victory in 37.05 with Ashley Sabin way back in 3rd in 39.02. Due to major water works in the
village the course had to be extended to 7.25 miles. Nick |
